Little Santa 2025

St. Nicholas Day – Sharing a Little Joy, Together

St. Nicholas Day is a cherished Polish tradition celebrated on 6 December, a time associated with small surprises, kindness and thoughtful gestures. It is a day that reminds us how much joy can be created through simple acts of care – especially for children.

Inspired by this tradition, Midlands Polish Community CLG delivered another edition of its Christmas charity initiative “Little Santa – St. Nicholas Day”. The project was once again led by Wojtek Wróbel, together with a dedicated team of volunteers.

Over several days, volunteers worked together to prepare 240 St. Nicholas gift packages, each filled with sweets and treats, created with care and attention. The packages were distributed to children and families experiencing difficult circumstances, bringing moments of happiness and warmth during the pre-Christmas period.

This year, the gifts were delivered through the following local organisations:

  • Esker House Domestic Abuse Support Service

  • Midlands Simon Community

  • Infinity Friends Athlone

  • The Melting Pot – Roscommon

  • Athlone Family Resource Centre

The success of the “Little Santa” project would not have been possible without the generous support of our partners and donors. We would like to sincerely thank:

  • The Polish Embassy in Dublin

  • Janosik Polish Grocery Athlone

  • Polska Strefa

  • Westmeath Independent

We are also deeply grateful to all individual donors and volunteers who contributed their time, energy and goodwill to help make this initiative possible.

“Little Santa” is more than a seasonal project. It is a community effort that brings people together and creates meaningful moments for children who need them most. Once again, it showed how cooperation, generosity and kindness can make a real difference – especially at this special time of year.
